New details have emerged on how the Deputy President William Ruto secretly plotted to sabotage the Jubilee Party Senatorial Parliamentary Group meeting that took place in Statehouse.
President Uhuru Kenyatta led the meeting that saw DP Ruto’s allies being ousted from Senate plum positions, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as Senate Majority leader and Nakuru’s Susan Kihika as Senate Majority Whip.
Despite the fact that the second in command has been silent on the ongoing purge in the ruling Jubilee party, it has been revealed that he tried to whip senators allied to him to skip the initial meeting but it flopped.
Endebess Member of Parliament Robert Pukose, however, claimed that some senators betrayed the DP by attending the meeting after prior agreement that they would not attend the meeting with others even ignoring his calls at the last minute.
The lawmaker also revealed that the DP was counting on his allied senators among them being Trans Nzoia’s Michael Mbito who said he could not ignore his party leader summon in DP’s bid to scuttle Uhuru’s purge.
