MP Kamene’s view that girls’ exploits contribute to pregnancies backed

Majority of Kenyans have supported Machakos Woman Rep Joyce Kamene’s observation that the surge in teenage pregnancy has greatly caused by seductive behaviour of young girls.

Kemene said the rampant cases of early pregnancies could be scaled down if young girls were to conduct themselves ethically and decently rather than arousing sexual feeling whenever they meet their male counterparts.

The Machakos woman rep who was speaking in Mlolongo on Friday, June 4, urged school girls to tone down on seductive behaviours that make their male counterparts thirst for them thinking they were ripe.

“Girls should stop using vulgar language in their conversations in presence of male counterparts. Exhibiting seductive behaviours makes them look like they are ripe for intercourse yet this is not true. It’s a faux pas for a 13-year-old girl to say hi to her father’s age mate, this is suggestive that you know what, am ripe!” she said.

Many Kenyans have since trooped to social media pages to rally behind her sentiments, noting the provocative behaviour was rampant among teenagers and was putting men into the temptation of approaching them.
