Freedom! Edgar Obare released on Ksh 100k bail

Blogger Edgar Obare has been released on a Kshs 100,000 bail.

He was charged at Kiambu law court for unlawful disclosure of personal data contrary to section 72 (3) (b) as read with section 73 of the data protection act No24 of 2019.

According to the charge sheet, Edgar is being accused of

“On diverse dates between 9th day of July, 2020 and 13th day of July, 2020 at an unknown place, within the republic of Kenya, using your social media accou t unlawfully disclosed to your online followers, personal data of a visa belonging to one Natalie Wanjiru Githinji without her consent.”

The complainant named on the charge sheet is social media influencer Natalie Tewa.

The witness list includes IP Ole Sena and PC Amin.
