Amani National Congress (ANC) Political Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to make informed and wise decisions on the ballot when the referendum vote takes place.
Mudavadi who was speaking at Sibanga in Chereng’any Constituency, Trans Nzoia County during the burial of Mzee John Etemesi, a former Provincial Commissioner during the late retired President Daniel Arap Moi’s regime, says the BBI debate and its ultimate process has been with Kenyans for long and it is time the amendment bill is brought to the Kenyans for them to make a decision through the vote.
“I am one of those who has been advocating for this process initiated under the Building Bridges Initiative to come and go, so that Kenyans can focus on other important matters of national interest and development. Now the time has come. At the end of this year, we need to begin a new conversation, since all the stages are almost complete. Members of the National Assembly did their part yesterday by taking the vote. The task will now be on us Kenyans, the voters across the country to make a decision on this matter,” Said Mudavadi.
The ANC Party Leader also called on Kenyans to ensure that while they engage in this debate on its final stages, the unity of this country remains at the fore-front as part of what the BBI process in its totality was meant to achieve among other issues related to democracy, governance, administration and strengthening of institutions.
Mudavadi says ultimately every Kenyan from the leaders in various capacities to the ordinary Kenyan; the first goal should be to ensure that Kenya prospers as one nation in all spheres of life.

“We need to ensure that this process is smooth, peaceful and credible. At the end of the day our focus should be on ensuring that we progress well as a country by having an all -inclusive nation,” Said Mudavadi.
Reflecting on Mzee Etemesi’s legacy and his passion for development and an equal society for all, the ANC Leader who has announced his quest to vie for the Presidency come 2022, pointed out the need for the Kenyan voter to be more careful, examine and keenly interrogate the leaders whom they will vote into office, saying most of our current times politicians have been a let-down and disgrace not only to the electorate who put them into office, but also to the whole society, with some have questionable integrity issues.
“The Pedigree of the leaders that are leaving us today, we are worried we don’t know if we will ever get a generation that will uphold that. Nowadays we see leaders who have been elected by the people forgetting that they are servants of the people but instead turn out to be masters of impunity, corruption and absolute poor leadership.” Said Mudavadi.
Mudavadi now wants Kenyans to be more introspective and think where exactly they would want to see Kenya after 2022 general elections.
He has urged Kenyans to use the remaining few months before the 2022 general elections and carefully re-examine the leaders they would want to vote in political offices. Mudavadi saying this should not only end with Political Office bearers but rather it should cut across all other cadres of leadership from public offices and institutions, to churches and at the lower level of leadership in the society.
“We need to ask ourselves, which kind of leadership are we looking for as a people. What moral characters do we want to see instilled in our current and future generations. These are the hard and honest questions we need to grapple with as 2022 is approaching very fast.” Added Mudavadi.
Other leaders present including Ford Kenya Party Leader Moses Wetangula, Chereng’any Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuni, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi and Kiminini Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa also called on Kenyans to exercise their democratic duty when the voting time for the BBI comes.
Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Transport and Infrastructure CS James Macharia who read President Uhuru’s condolence message were also in attendance among other key political leaders from Western Region.
