Nairobi residents have been warned to avoid certain Central Business District areas after reports of an uptick in muggings targeting those who love to walk during the night.

These most inner parts of the city are the ones to watch for as pointed out by individuals who have been robbed past 7:30 pm. The few noted places include Ambassadeuer, Archives, Kencom, Jubilee Insurance area towards Supreme Court, 680 Hotel, Bruce House area of Standard Street.

It is revealed that in cases where it may involve force to obtaining anything valuable whether it’s cash or mobile phones from a victim, some of these armed criminals who walk in groups of 4-6 guys are always more than willing to rob even if it meant taking the innocent life of a Nairobian.

Police officers have blamed the rise in criminal activities on the frequent closure of schools due to the pandemic that hit the country last year.

One of the officers said: “ Some of these thugs are just carried by peer pressure, while others are real ones. You realise the problem when they are arrested and parents are called to the stations for help.”
