The Ministry of Health on Monday, 28th June, announced 287 new Covid-19 cases from 2,699 samples tested in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally to 182,884, with 17 new deaths.
This brings to 1,945,736, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate stands at 10.6 per cent.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 280 are Kenyans while seven are foreigners, with 170 being males and 117 females. The youngest is a three-month-old child and the oldest is 89.
Kagwe said 152 patients had recovered from the disease, 84 from the home-based and isolation care programme, while 68 are from various health facilities across the country. The total number of recoveries stands at 124,588.
The Covid-19 death toll rose to 3,612 after 17 more patients succumbed to the disease.
Meanwhile, 1,062 patients have been admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 6,730 patients are in home-based isolation and care.
Some 101 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 33 of whom are on ventilatory support, 45 on supplemental oxygen and 23 patients are on observation.
Another 116 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 102 of them in the general wards while 14 are in the High Dependency Units (HDU).
The cases are distributed in the counties as follows: Nairobi 95, Kajiado 56, Kisii 35, Siaya and Homa Bay 17 cases each, Kakamega 13, Bungoma 11, Busia and Uasin Gishu, had nine cases each, Nakuru seven, Garissa six, Vihiga four, Kiambu three, Migori two, Nyeri, Embu, and Kirinyaga registered one case each.
Vaccination: As of today, a total of 1,293,004 vaccines have so far been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 1,003,204 while second doses are 289,800.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 28.9 per cent, with the majority being males at 56 per cent while females are at 44 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 1.11 per cent.
The uptake of the second dose by priority groups is as follows: Those aged 58 and above 84,855, others 78,309, health workers 68,688, teachers 36,167 and security officers are at 21,781.
