The Ministry of Health on Sunday, 4th July, announced 277 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s caseload to 185,868.
The new cases were detected from 3,796 samples tested, raising the cumulative tests to 1,981,951. The country’s positivity rate stands at 7.3 per cent.
In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 272 are Kenyans while five are foreigners. There are 158 males and 119 females. The youngest is a 10-month-old baby while the oldest is 95.
The national death toll rose to 3,675 after four more patients succumbed to the virus.
Kagwe said that 669 patients had recovered from the disease, 588 are from the home-based and isolation care programme, while 81 were from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 127,625.
There are 1,126 patients admitted to various health facilities, while 5,834 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.
Some 115 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 34 of whom are on ventilatory support, 50 on supplemental oxygen and 31 patients are under observation.
Another 166 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 151 of them in general wards and 15 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
Distribution of Cases in Counties
Nairobi registered 64 cases, Mombasa 31, Nandi 27, Siaya 22, Nakuru 21, Busia 17, Uasin Gishu 16, Homa Bay 10, Kericho and Kisumu, nine cases each, Bungoma and Narok, seven cases each, and Embu six. Kilifi and Migori had five cases each, Kakamega, Lamu, and Kiambu four cases each, Meru, Bomet, and Taita Taveta two cases each while Kisii, Kitui, and Murang’a had one case each.
Vaccination: As of today, a total of 1,473,869 vaccines have so far been administered across the country. Of these, the total first doses are 1,017,485 while the second doses are 456,384.
