7 More Deaths as Kenya Records 400 New Covid-19 Infections – LitKenya

The number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 186,453 after 400 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours.

The cases are from the 5,068 samples tested, bringing to 1,989,066, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate is at 7.9 per cent.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 6th July, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 386 are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners.

There are 220 are males and 180 females. The youngest is a 12-day-old infant while the oldest is 97.

Kagwe said that 354 patients have recovered from the disease, 259 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program while 95 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 129,165.

Sadly, seven more patients have succumbed, bringing the death toll to 3,697.

There are 1,133 patients currently admitted in various health facilities, while 5,387 patients are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

Some 113 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 30 of whom are on ventilatory support, 46 on supplemental oxygen and 37 patients are under observation.

Another 185 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 163 of them in general wards and 22 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are spread in counties as follows; Nairobi 155 cases, Kilifi 43, Uasin Gishu 34, Siaya 21, Kiambu 19, Busia 18, Mombasa 16, Kisumu 13, Nyamira and Nakuru 11 cases each, Narok six, Kwale, Marsabit and Murang’a five cases each, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kisii and Homa Bay four cases each, Bomet, Kajiado, Kakamega and Kitui three cases each, Kericho and Migori two cases each while Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Embu, Turkana, West Pokot and Garissa had one case each.
