Alarm in Kiambu village after body of middle-aged woman was found dumped in a well

Police in Lari constituency Kiambu County have launched
investigation to determine the exact cause of the death of a woman in a village
known as “Kwa Edward” on the border of Kiambu and Nyandarua counties.

According to police, the body of the late Beatrice Magiri
Chege was found dumped inside an underground well in her own compound.

Confirming the incident, Lari police boss Stephen Kirui said the murder is suspected to have been committed on Sunday night by armed robbers.

“We recovered the body after receiving a distress call
from the diseased neighbours. As security personnel we are doing everything to
ensure whoever is behind this is brought to book,” Lari OCPD confirmed.

Kirui also urged Lari residents to be patient and give
detectives ample time so that the postmortem exercise can be done in order to
give detectives a lead into investigations.

“Since the body of the late Magiri had no physical
injuries we are now waiting for postmortem to be conducted so that we can
identify the real cause of her death, the results will help us get
suspect(s),” Kirui added.

According to area residents who reported the absence of the
late Magiri, the house of the deceased which is a muddy house had been
demolished on one side and that her television set was the only missing
property.

“I saw one of the walls of Magiri’s house demolished. I was curious to know what was going on. However, when I got closer I realised that she was not anywhere to be seen and that is when I decided to notify other neighbors,” one of the deceased’s neighbor told K24 Digital.

The neighbours also claim that the late Magiri had no quarrel
with anyone making her murder remained a mystery.

Residents of Lari have asked detectives to hasten
investigations into the murder and make public their findings since the murder
has spread a lot of fear across the area.

“We would like police to do a thorough investigation
and bring the killers of Magiri to book since we are now worried about our own
safety,” another resident added.

The body of the deceased was retrieved from the well and
taken to the Uplands Mortuary in Lari where the postmortem will be conducted.
