Over 1000 Kenyans who were duped into fake greenhouse
investment have praise the state after a director of Goldenscape Group Peter
Wangai was on Monday arraigned to face 357 new fraud charges

Speaking to K24 TV Digital the victims through their
lawyers Mutea Michael and Kennedy Wambua Mwange say that they are about to get
justice after the DPP through the help of the DCI recommend Wangai’s
prosecution.

The remarks by the victims come after Wangai was granted Ksh10 million cash bail pending plea taking next week.

Wangai who is the Goldenscape Founder and CEO appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku on Monday, August 2, 2021 afternoon but did not plead to the 357 charges of defrauding several investors in the collapsed greenhouse business

“I order the accused person to be released on a cash
bail of Ksh10 million with an alternative bond of Ksh20 million pending
directions and plea taking on August 9,” said Mutuku.

Wangai did not plead to the 357 charges filed in court by
the office of the DPP to await the Mutuku’s decision whether the court will
admit the counts in one charge sheet.

According to charge sheets filed in court in over 10 files, the embattled businessman is facing charges of obtaining money by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay money as a return on investment on each greenhouse after every six months.

He is also facing charges of issuing bad cheques.

The prosecution alleges that Wangai committed the offences
in the year 2018-2019.

The case will be mentioned on September 9, 2021, for plea taking.
