Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) on Saturday registered their third win of the season after thrashing Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad RFC 38-10 in a Kenya Cup match played at Nandi Bears Club in Nandi.
The Kakamega based students scored six tries to bag their first bonus point win and emerge top in the University Derby match.
Debutant Felix Bukhutse and Nobert Lubwani each scored a brace with Abandon Jadah and Elvis Amunya also getting on the score sheet in a match that MMUST had to come from behind to win.
Blak Blad got off to a good start after taking an early 7-0 lead after Douglas Sifuna crossed over for the opening try with Kelvin Gathu adding the twos.

Jadah Abdon would then charge past his markers to land MMUST’s opening try that Lumbwani failed to convert as the scores stood at 7-5.
Kenyatta University would respond through Gathu whose penalty stretched the visitors lead to 10-5.
MMUST would however go into the break with a two-point advantage after Elvis Amunya center post try saw the hosts take a 12-10 lead after Lumbwani’s conversion.
In the final half, Lumbwani would go over for MMUST’s third try before adding the extras for a 19-10 lead.
Substitute Bukhuste stretched the lead by scoring moments after being introduced into the match before Lumbwani bagged his brace for a 31-0 lead.
