Ugandan Woman Goes on a Date to Celebrate Her Divorce

A Ugandan woman has stirred the internet by celebrating her big setback. Nantongo Immaculate took to her Facebook page to announce the end of her marriage. 

She did something unheard of, as she went on a date with her ex-husband. In her photos, she is seen holding the certificate with a slice of cake. The cake, which had a candle on it, was inscribed, ‘Happily Divorced’.

“So my divorce is final yeeeeeeey after six years of separation. Today, I chose to celebrate the end to something that resulted in two handsome boys. I celebrate the friendship, the co-parenting, and the maturity. Seven years ago, I didn’t know we would be at this place sitting together and sharing a meal. How time heals everything!” she wrote. 

She said she was celebrating the fact that she chose to move on maturely. However, she explained that she wasn’t in any way glorifying divorce.

“Deciding to let go of the hurt, betrayal, and choosing to forgive wasn’t a simple thing but I did and we are in the best place we could ever be. I am not here to glamourise divorce, but to tell anyone in a similar situation, divorce is not the end of life,” she added.
