346 More Test Positive as 10 Succumb to Covid-19

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 346 new Covid-19 cases from 3,553 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s caseload to 235,298.

The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,367,077.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House headquarters in Nairobi, on Monday, 30th August, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that the country’s positivity rate is at 9.7 percent.

From the new cases 333 Kenyans while 13 are foreigners with 161 being males while 185 are females. The youngest case is a three-month-old child and the oldest is 95.

Unfortunately, 10 more patients have succumbed to the deadly virus, bringing the death toll to 4,720.

Some 1,404 patients have recovered from coronavirus, 1,327 from Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 77 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 222,357.

There are 1,951 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,924 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 

At the same time, 148 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 108 of whom are on ventilatory support, 36 on supplemental oxygen and four patients are under observation.

Another 833 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 757 of them in general wards and 79 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
