Hilarious Reactions as Court Declares Housewives Deserve Salaries

The High Court has today, September 24, ruled that a housewife should be salaried every month.

Justice Teresia Matheka declared housewives play a very key role in a family, and therefore, should not be branded as jobless.

While determining a matrimonial property dispute, she argued that since housewives offer full-time services at home, they should receive monthly pay from their husbands.

“Raising children is a full-time job that families pay a person to do as well as cooking and cleaning. Hence, for a woman in employment, who has to balance childbearing and rearing this contribution must be considered,” she said.

In this particular case, a divorced woman wanted the court to order the selling of the property acquired when she was in marriage and the money shared equally. Her wish was granted.

As a matter of course, Kenyans flooded social media platforms with divergent views.

While men appeared not to agree with the ruling, a majority of women welcomed the verdict.

Some netizens reasoned that without a proper law to guide how the payment should be done, what Matheka said remains just hot air.

There were men who said they cannot pay their wives while others revealed supporting their spouses financially.
