Police arrest two, recover cache of firearms in Isiolo

Police on Friday morning recovered a cache of firearms and ammunition in Garbatulla, Isiolo county.
According to detectives, the weapons that included three AK-47 assault rifles, one Mark4 rifle, 203 rounds of 7.62X39mm special calibre and nine AK-47 magazines were recovered in the 5am raid. 
During the raid, two suspects Abdi Guyo, 35, and Amina Mohamed, 30, were also arrested.
The shocking recovery came after police officers acting on a tip-off, raided a house in the outskirts of Kinna town.
Also recovered were six stones of cannabis sativa and two numberless motorcycles, suspected to be getaway means used by the suspects.
The two suspects are in police custody as the investigation continues.
Isiolo County has been hit coordinated bandit attacks, threatening to turn the area into a killing field.
Political intrigues and land disputes and acquisitions are major contributors to the conflicts between pastoralists in Isiolo.
The insecurity has also been blamed on the competition for water and pasture in the dry and hot areas.
