Covid-19 Positivity Rate at 3.2PC as 77 People Test Positive

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 77 new Covid-19 cases, raising the national tally to 250,191.

In a press statement issued on Monday, 4th October, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were detected from the 2,415 samples tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total to 2,575,024. The country’s positivity rate is at 3.2 per cent.

Of the new cases 70 are Kenyans while seven are foreigners with 42 being males and 35 females. The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 88 yearrs.

Some 322 patients have recovered from the disease with 287 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 35 are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 242,857.

The Covid-19 death toll rose to 5,141 after one more patient succumbed.

There are 914 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,979 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

At the same time, 56 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support, 23 on supplemental oxygen and two patients are under observation.

Another 291 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 282 of them in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 18, Meru 14, Nakuru 12, Machakos five, Mombasa and Siaya four cases each, Kiambu three, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nandi and Turkana two cases each while Uasin Gishu, West Pokot, Garissa, Nyandarua, Kakamega, Kericho, Bungoma and Baringo had one case each.
