According to a police report, it was indicated that the woman had been shot on her right leg, above the ankle.
At the crime scene, the police recovered a fire arm that had 13 bullets from the Senator security detail.
The senator had told a local publication that he was at a hospital receiving a check up after the attack.
“I am at a hospital for some checkup and will speak on the matter later, but the truth is that I was attacked by a knive-wielding gang last night,” he told the standard.
According to the doctors at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital where the victim has been receiving treatment say that she is in a stable condition.
According to Onesmus Towett, the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) for Laikipia, Senator Anwar had informed police that he had also been injured in the incident and was seeking medical attention in Nairobi.
“We established that the senator had already travelled to Nairobi but we called him and he told us that he had been confronted by two women and a man and that he shot in self-defence,”Towett stated.
The senator has recently been accused of assaulting a political aspirant affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Francis Mugo had accused Anwar of breaking his glasses, snatching his mobile phone and trying to throw him into the Indian Ocean, minutes after Deputy President William Ruto had left Lamu county.
