Covid-19 Caseload Hits 253,293 as 142 Test Positive

The number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya surged to 253,293 after 142 people tested positive from a sample size of 4,950 tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings to 2,701,802, the cumulative number of samples tested so far. The country’s positivity rate stands at 2.9per cent.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 30th, October Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 137 are Kenyans and five foreigners while 110 are males and 32 females. The youngest is a one-year-old child while the oldest is 82.

Some 144 patients have recovered from the disease, 133 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 11 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Some three more patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 5,276.

There are 463 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,212 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Meanwhile, 25 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen

The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Bungoma 58 cases, Nairobi 13, Kericho and Uasin Gishu eight cases each, Wajir and Nyeri seven cases each, Garissa and Marsabit six cases each, Nakuru five, Mandera four, Kajiado three, Embu, Isiolo, Mombasa, Murang’a and Baringo two cases each while Trans Nzoia, Kiambu, Kilifi, West Pokot, Bomet, Busia and Elgeyo Marakwet had one case each.
