Two Suspects Arrested Transporting 89 Bales of Bhang

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Special Service Unit on Sunday, 31st arrested two suspects transporting 89 bales of bhang along Garissa-Thika Road.

The 89 bales which were destined for Nairobi from Wajir were intercepted in a Nairobi-bound lorry christened Rhino Cement.

The SSU sleuths were acting on an intelligence report, of a notorious criminal syndicate that guises as serious builders of the nation, while trading in the illegal drug from Wajir using branded vehicles.

Upon interception, search and confiscation of the stowed stockpile, the two occupants and the KBS 601 M Actross lorry were escorted to DCI Headquarters, where the Anti-Nacortics detectives took over the case for further investigations.

The lorry has since been detained and the rest of the exhibits processed by Crime Scene Investigators.

The two suspects Hassan Adan Maalim, 25 and Shedrack Maangi, 35 await arraignment tomorrow.

The arrest of the two comes just three days after detectives arrested a drug trafficking suspect in possession of 24 bags of cannabis sativa of unknown value.

George Ntiiti Naibaltau, 37, was arrested on Thursday, 28th October at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County.

The detectives also impounded a motor vehicle registration No. KBN 573Z, Toyota Ipsum believed to have been used by the suspect to transport the drugs.
