The Covid-19 death toll rose to 5,296 after 14 more patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has announced.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 4th November, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also reported 149 new infections from 5,500 samples, raising the country’s caseload to 253,661.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,724,372.
From the new cases, 148 are Kenyans while one is a foreigner with 74 being males and 75 females. The youngest is a seven-year-old baby, while the oldest is 98.
A total of 131 patients have recovered from the disease with 103 from the home-based isolation and care programme, while 28 are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,156.
There are 426 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,151 are under the home-based isolation and care programe.
Some 32 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 18 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 114 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 112 of them in the general wards and two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The cases are spread in counties as follows: Kitui 49, Nairobi 41, Nakuru nine, Trans Nzoia seven, Busia, Kisii and Meru five cases each, Isiolo four, Makueni and Kakamega three, Bomet, Bungoma and Marsabit two cases each, while Elgeyo-Marakwet, Garissa, Kajiado, Kisumu, Migori, Murang’a, Nandi, Narok, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Uasin Gishu and Wajir had one case each.
