An influential club of prominent businessmen from Mt Kenya will on Thursday host One Kenya Alliance principals to a luncheon in Nairobi.
The Mount Kenya Foundation will host Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) exactly 10 days after having a similar event with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The group, which has backed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his predecessor Mwai Kibaki in past elections, will host OKA leaders at Safari Park Hotel, the same venue where it met with Raila.
Mudavadi confirmed to the Star that all Oka principals will attend the event.
“Wetang’ula has been out of the country for some time but we are hoping that he will jet back in time for the luncheon,” he stated.
Mudavadi was, however, quick to point out that the meeting had not been called for endorsement purposes but to discuss various national matters and the 2022 polls.
“It will not be about endorsements. Endorsements that matter are not made in the boardrooms but on the ground,” he added.
The meeting is also expected to bring together top leaders from the region among them governors, legislators as well as religious leaders.
Mount Kenya Foundation has been known to play a key role in every electioneering period as it raised funds to support a candidate of choice.
During last month’s meeting with Raila, the group showered him with praise for his handshake with the President and efforts to unite the country.
Raila met the group soon after holding discussions with leaders from Mt Kenya East led by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi at the same hotel.
Murungi led a group of Meru leaders, the business community and professionals.
