Vihiga Queens Bow Out of Caf Women’s Champions League

FKF Women Premier League side Vihiga Queens were knocked out of Caf Women’s Champions League following a 4-0 thrashing by Nigeria’s Rivers Angels at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Egypt on Friday, 12th November.

A brace by Vivian Ikechukwu and a goal each by Oluwadamilola Koku and Gift Monday handed Rivers Angels their first win of the competition.

Vihiga Queens defeat marks the end of their campaign in the tournament, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and ASFAR from Morocco who drew goalless qualified for the semi finals stage.

The Kenyan side started the tournament suffering a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, before they revived their hopes with a 2-0 win against ASFAR FC.

Sundowns tops Group B with seven points, while ASFAR are second on four points. Rivers Angels and Vihiga Queens have three points each but the Nigerians have an outstanding goal difference.

ASFAR will now face Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies FC in one of the semi-final matches, while Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies takes on Malabo Kings (Equatorial Guinea).

The semifinals will be played on Monday, 15th November.
