3 Succumb to Covid-19 as 75 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health has announced 75 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s caseload to 254,384.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 16th November, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the latest figure was derived from the 3,854 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

This brings to 2,775,646 the cumulative number of Covid-19 tests. The country’s positivity rate now stands at two per cent.

Of the new cases, 62 are Kenyans while 13 are foreigners, with 40 being males and 35 females. The youngest is a two-year-old baby, while the oldest is 94.

Kagwe said 29 that patients had recovered from the disease, 17 from the home-based and isolation care programme, and 12 from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries is 247,711.

Some three more patients have succumbed, raising the death toll to 5,322.

There are 385 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,021 are under the home-based isolation and care program.

At the same time, 23 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 115 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 112 of them in general wards and three in High Dependency Units (HDU).
