Nairobi governor Kananu nominates former councillor as her deputy

Anne Mwenda Kananu, the newly-sworn Nairobi governor has settled on former city councillor Mutunga Mutungi as her deputy.

Mutungi is a former Mbotela councilor.

“In this regard, and pursuant to Section Pursuant to Section 32C (1)(a) of the County Governments Act, I do hereby nominate Mr Paul Mutunga Mutungi to the position of deputy governor,” she wrote.

The county assembly will vet the nominee and approve his nomination within 60 days after which he will take the oath of office. “In considering this nomination, I have taken into account his professional qualifications, leadership qualities, gender balance and competencies necessary for the deputy governor’s seat,” she added.
