Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Wangui Ngirici has criticised Governor Anne Waiguru for speaking ill of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.
While accompanying Deputy President William Ruto in Runyenjes, Embu County, the Kirinyaga county boss accused the PS of disrespecting Kenyans.
She claimed that the powerful civil servant was the least most qualified and the President should consider replacing him with a competent person.
Waiguru condemned Kibicho for saying that he won’t stop politicking and whoever is against him should “eat razor blades or buy ropes and hang themselves”.
“I appeal to the President to fire Kibicho and employ another person from Kirinyaga. He has stopped working and now he is doing politics. When we ask to stop politicking, he just insults us. Kibicho should go home,” the governor said.
Defending the PS, Ngirici said Waiguru is married in Murang’a, and therefore, she should respect the people of Kirinyaga.
“Residents of Kirinyaga are well united and political differences shall never take us down this route. We understand that PS Kibicho is from Kirinyaga and Waiguru is from Murang’a. Please don’t burn our house as you go back home,” the Woman Rep said.
She noted that it is through collaboration with Kibicho and other Kirinyaga leaders that mega projects the Waiguru opposed have been implemented.
“Such sentiments should have been aired at home (Murang’a) if they were genuine. We are in UDA, but that’s not a license to insult your way to a second term.”
At the heart of these fights is the Kirinyaga gubernatorial contest.
After Waiguru joined UDA last month, Ngirici, who is among the pioneers of DP Ruto’s UDA, has been throwing missiles at the governor.
Both want the UDA ticket and Kibicho seems to be favouring Ngirici due to his big differences with Waiguru.
During preparations for the Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20, Kibicho, who coordinates national events, worked closely with Ngirici, with Waiguru accusing him of undermining her.
