The Ministry of Health has announced 201 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The national tally now stands at 256,335.
The cases were from the 4,011 samples tested. This brings to 2,889,613 the cumulative number of samples tested. The country’s positivity rate is at five per cent.
In a statement issued on Sunday, 12th December Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that 157 of the new cases are Kenyans and 44 are foreigners.
From the latest infections, 118 are males while 83 are females. The youngest is an eight-month-old child while the oldest is 78 years.
Some four patients have recovered from Covid-19 all from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. The total number of recoveries now stands at 248,515.
Two patients have succumbed to the disease pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,348.
There are 188 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 834 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
At the same time two patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and all of them are on ventilatory support.
49 patients are on supplemental oxygen with 48 of them being in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit.
The cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 119, Mombasa 31, Trans Nzoia and Kiambu 10 cases each, Machakos nine, Nakuru six, Kajiado four, Meru three, Kisumu, Kwale, Baringo, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kilifi and Nyeri one case each.
