The Ministry of Health has announced 943 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally to 258,557.
The cases are from the 5,787 samples tested, bringing to 2,908,081 the cumulative number of tests. The country’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 16.3 per cent.
In a statement issued in Nairobi, on Thursday, 15th December, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases 875 are Kenyans while 68 are foreigners with 501 being males and 442 females. The youngest is a four-month-old while the oldest is 92.
Some 145 patients have recovered, 111 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 34 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 249,154.
No death has been reported today, therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,350.
There are 177 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,986 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Some nine patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), three of them on ventilatory support while six are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 41 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 40 of them are in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
