Skillful winger Boniface Muchiri on Thursday morning, 16th December bid goodbye to his teammates as he heads out for a career change.

The 25-year-old who was recently recruited into the Kenya Defence Forces played his last match for Tusker in a 0-0 draw with Sofapaka at the Ruaraka Complex on Sunday, 12th December.

Muchiri has paid a glowing tribute to the team and coach Robert Matano, saying his time at Ruaraka transformed him into the player he is today.

“When I joined the team five years ago, coach Matano talked to me and told me to listen to what he says, work hard and I would perform well,” Muchiri was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“I think his advice is what has brought me here and I want to thank him for everything he has done to me. He really demands a lot from his players and he has pushed me a lot and that is what has changed my life in and out of football. I want to say thank you to him,” he added.

Muchiri joined Tusker from Sony Sugar in 2016 and helped the Brewers to win two league titles.

“I want to thank everyone in the team from the Management for the five years I have been here. To my teammates and the technical bench, I also want to say thanks for the cooperation we have had and everything we have achieved. I also want to thank the fans for always supporting me in my good days and bad days and pushing me to be where I am.”

Commenting on Muchiri’s departure coach Matano says; “It’s very emotional for me because he is one of my best players. I have been with him since I came and I transformed him to be a better player. It touches me a lot but I have to accept. It is beyond my control but I wish him the best. He is a very disciplined and committed player who has heart to do something”

Muchiri will resume his football career once he completes his six-month military training.
