Manchester United have on Wednesday, 22nd December appointed Ewan Sharp as their new assistant coach and analyst.

In a statement, United said that Sharp has been working at Lokomotiv Moscow, alongside United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The Scotsman has previously worked with New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC, while also having a two-year stint as director of performance analysis at Northwestern University in the United States.

Sharp’s role was performance analyst with New York Red Bulls, before taking up the position of assistant coach at Toronto FC in February of this year. He moved to Moscow last month.

Rangnick has already brought in former New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC head coach Chris Armas as an assistant, as well as sports psychologist Sascha Lense, having worked with both previously.

Chris Armas has, of course, already been introduced to Rangnick’s team and he worked with Sharp in New York and Toronto, with the pair knowing each other well.

United are scheduled to face Newcastle United in the English Premier League (away, on 27th December) and Burnley (at home, on 30th December).

First-team training resumed at Carrington on Tuesday, 21st December with a staggered return of the players, after the matches with Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion were forced to be postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
