The Ministry of Health on Tuesday, 28th December confirmed 1,504 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s caseload to 285,654.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement issued in Nairobi that the cases were detected from 4,636 samples tested, raising the total to 2,999,548. The country’s positivity rate stands at 32.4 per cent.
Out of the new cases, 1,293 are Kenyans while 211 are foreigners with 797 females and 707 males. The youngest is a three-month-old child while the oldest is 95 years.
Some 401 patients have recovered from Covid-19, 298 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 103 are from various health facilities countrywide. The total number of recoveries now stands at 250,727.
There are no deaths reported, therefore, the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,364.
Currently, there are 752 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 21,033 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
At the same time, 37 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 19 of them on ventilatory support while 18 are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 174 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 158 of them are in the general wards. 16 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination: As of 27th December 2021, a total of 9,614,364 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 5,656,859 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 3,957,505.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 55.7 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 14.5 per cent. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
