Hosts Samitsi FC were crowned 2021 Champions of the third edition of Karamoja Super Cup after sinking Sawawa FC 1-0 in an entertaining clash played at Samitsi grounds on Tuesday 28.
The victory came courtesy of a second half strike and solitary goal scored by one of the tournament best players Hamisi Hassan.
Tournament sponsor Bramm Karamoja said he will continue supporting growth and development of the game in the country especially at the grassroots where believes there exist plenty of untapped potential.
“Fourth edition of this competition next year will be bigger and I want to thank everyone involved in making this a success especially my partners and other stakeholders who sacrificed alot in supporting this noble initiative.We will keep doing our best to help in nurturing talent” he said.
The final match was curtain raised by former Harambee Stars players including ex national team captain Musa Otieno,Gor Mahia assistant coach Sammy Pamzo, goalkeeper Matthew Ottomax among others against ASEC FC from Kakamega which featured legendary Boniface Ambani who holds the Kenya Premier League goals record of 26 which he netted in 2006 season while playing for Tusker FC.

Several local football dignitaries graced the Championship culmination including former head coaches of national team Harambeee Stars Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee and Adel Amrouche.
Mulee parted ways with Harambee Stars on mutual consent in September after being in charge for eleven months.
He had been named as the team’s tactician for the twelfth time on October 20, 2020, replacing his predecessor Francis Kimanzi.

On the other hand,the Belgian’s reign in the job was marked with relative success between 2013 and 2014 helping Kenya to lift the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge trophy before he got dismissed the following year.
This year’s winners Samitsi FC defeated Bulupi FC 2-0 to win the inaugural edition in 2019 and finished runners up last year behind Mugai FC who lifted the cup.
Overall winners took home cash prizes of Kshs 350,000 while runners up and second runners up pocketed Kshs 150,000 and 100,000 respectively.
