To the ordinary Kenyan, ODM leader Raila Odinga’s event in Thika Stadium, Kiambu County, where he launched his presidential campaigns, was just another political meeting.

However, to some top Kikuyu celebrities, this was a big business opportunity that they hopped on to.

Organisers of today’s event hired renowned musicians and emcees to grace the rally and entertain the attendees.

Some of the entertainers included Mugithi maestros Samidoh and Jose Gatutura, gospel singer Ben Gathe and Sir James as well popular comedian Muthee Kiengei.

Githae has been the talk of the internet after his electrifying performance at the political function.

Some netizens opined that he has turned his music career into a business. In the two General Elections, the artiste vigorously campaigned for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

@oloojl wrote: ‘This Ben Githae guy is a smart businessman. He knows where the income would come from.”

On the other hand, Kiengei, who is a pastor, faced criticism from a section of social media users, who claimed he was not a true man of God.

Besides being one of the emcees, the funnyman, who also works as a radio presenter, his company “Kiengei Live Media” was contracted to set up everything in the stadium and provide the sound system.

Responding to critics, the rib-tickler said it would be foolish to reject a gig just because he is a pastor.

“Kiengei is a businessman and investor. Pastor Ben is a servant of God and people. Are we together? He posed.

He added that it is in God’s favour he landed the deal with Azimio la Umoja, as there are many people/companies providing similar services to his but were not hired.

“Favour will lead you to open doors,” he said.
