We are ready for August polls despite tight budget-IEBC

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) says it is ready to conduct the August 9th general election though under a tight budget.

IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati has however told Kenyans that for now, they should register as voters in readiness for the August contest.

Chebuka was in Vihiga County Saturday where he also urged all eligible Kenyans to register as voters before the February 6th deadline.

He said most IEBC, clerks remain idle due to low turnout at the registration centres. IEBC has been running an online campaign targeting the youth to persuade them to register as voters.

The enhanced Continuous Voter Registration will go on until February 6, 2022, in readiness for the polls.
