Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has ruled out any possibility of working with ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead on August 2022 elections.
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya at an event called to confirm his presidential bid in August 2022 elections, Mudavadi strongly dismissed the idea that he could team up with Raila under the Azimio la Umoja movement.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ANC stand which I am privileged to pronounce is that the specter called Azimio is not an option when it comes to partnership.” Said Mudavadi
He dismissed the Raila-led movement claiming it wasn’t about the country’s unity. He described Azimio movement as ‘self-preservation’ platform for ‘some cunning individuals.’
“The patterns are only well known and predictable. Wamepoteza frequency na network. We have had enough of this self preservation schemes. Tumechoka. Enough is enough. Tusidanganyane. We will not work with you.” he charged
Mudavadi, whose political event was surprisingly graced by Deputy President William Ruto, argued that his decision to never work with the former Prime Minister is for the reason that, from previous engagements, Raila does not honor his promises.
It is precisely for this reason that the former vice president disclosed that he had shut all does leading to another association with the ODM boss.
“We had trouble with untrustworthy persons before and even when we have given them another chance to redeem themselves, they have failed miserably by returning to their old mischief.”
“It is true that after all, bad manners die hard. We shall no longer countenance the company of those who cannot be trusted. No! Never again.” He declared
Mudavadi went on: “For the avoidance of doubt, let me state this, in plain words, we may not know who is going with us, or who will be our comrades at arms, on this mission, but we know who they will not be, they will not be those who cannot be trusted. Those whom you trust at your own risk,”
Having ruled out working with Raila, Mudavadi announced that he was going to seek new political partners on his journey that he had embarked upon even as he pronounced that ‘there is no shortage of friend’s of goodwill and good intent to partner with.’
“It is not going to be business as usual. As the saying goes, the time has come, when we must scatter them and gather them, for the sake of our country and we start today here now.” he said
