Debutants Gambia earn historic AFCON last 16 place

BAFOUSSAM, Cameroon, Jan 24 – Musa Barrow’s 71^st minute goal handed Gambia a 1-0 victory over Guinea, as the Africa Cup of Nations debutants progressed to the quarter finals at the Stade Omnisports de Bafoussam on Monday.

Playing in their first ever AFCON tournament, the Gambians kept their unbeaten run, replicating the feat achieved by Madagascar enroute to the quarter finals at the last Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2019.
