Nairobi County Government employees have issued a 21-days ultimatum to the county to remit their statutory deductions, failure to which they will down their tools.
The Kenya County Government Workers Union Secretary-General Roba Duba said the funds amount to 560 million shillings, which include 490 million shillings for October to December 2021, and another 70 million shillings staff claims for January this year.
The Union said the deductions include pension contributions, bank loans, Sacco loans, union dues among other deductions owing to various institutions.
Duba said the County government’s action has caused members untold suffering with most of them who had running loans likely to be penalized.
