Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti of the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development, and Public Works has resigned.

The CAS called it quits on Friday, February 4, to join politics as she will be eyeing Machako’s Gubernatorial seat in the 2022 polls.

“This time around, the people of Machakos are ready. They want to take their county back through Wavinya Ndeti, who is their daughter; born and bred there,” she stated.

Speaking to the media, Wavinya stated that she bowed out of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Cabinet in line with section 34(6) of the Elections Act, which requires civil servants to resign six months to the election.

She thanked President Uhuru for giving her a chance to serve as a CAS during his administration.

“Kenya will never be the same again with the infrastructure we have now. We have worked with the President well, and I thank him so much,” she said.

This comes just a day after Tourism CAS, former Inspector General of Police (IG) Joseph Boinnet, withdrew from his position at the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Boinett, who had served for three years, said that he will be vying for the Elgeiyo-Marakwet Gubernatorial seat and was ready to launch his campaigns to popularise his bid.

“I have just come from Parliament, leading a team from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife where I’ve been the Chief Administrative Secretary for the last three years.

“So today’s appearance in Parliament marks the end of my tour of duty as a Chief Administrative Secretary. Immediately after this, I am going to tender my resignation as Chief Administrative Secretary because I intend to head to the county where I was born to vie for the position of Governor. That is the county of Elgeyo-Marakwet,” he noted.

Boinnet was appointed to the Cabinet in 2019.
