Exiled Kenyan lawyer based in Canada, Miguna Miguna, confirmed his registration details as a voter with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials stationed at Toronto on February 3.
Taking to Twitter, Miguna announced the news even as IEBC continues to enlist voters in their register ahead of the 2022 polls slated for August.
“Today, I attended the @IEBCKenya’s Mobile Station in Toronto and made sure I am on the Voters’ Register.” He wrote.
On their part, IEBC thanked the lawyer for showing up to register as they carry on with voter registration in various mobile stations, Kenyan Embassies, and Consulates abroad.

“Miguna Miguna was among the many Kenyans living in Canada who visited Kenya High Commission office and Consulates to register as a voter, change particulars or transfer their voting station from Kenya to Canada. #ECVR2022 is ongoing in Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver for 15 days.” IEBC stated.
Also, Former Education and Lands Cabinet Secretary, Prof Jacob Kaimenyi, a Kenyan Ambassador to Belgium, visited IEBC station in Berlin, Germany, to be listed in the voters’ list.
“The Kenyan Ambassador to Belgium HE Prof Jacob Kaimenyi checked in at the Kenyan Embassy in Berlin to register as a voter. Kaimenyi flew in from Brussels.” IEBC announced.

According to records from the IEBC dated January 31, it has managed to register 548,188 new voters since the commencement of mass voter registration.
They had targeted to register 2,987,138 voters before the end of the second phase of the registration process, which ends on February 6. Meaning they have only enlisted less than 20 percent of the would-be new voters.
