NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 1 – Asian e-commerce giant, QNET, has donated to the Lady of Mercy Children’s Home in Mikindani, the first charity drive of 2022 in East Africa.

The home – which started in 2003 – has since been run through the donations of well-wishers from across the region and currently accommodates 44 children.

“Throughout the years, we have supported over 80 children who have come through our doors and are now either independent in their jobs or have settled down through marriage – that is a blessing to witness,” said Fatma Abeid, QNET independent representative.

Among the various items donated to the children’s home included sugar, maize flour, wheat flour, salt, rice, tea leaves, soya beans, cooking oil as well as toiletries like soap and toothpaste. Also included for the children were pampers, sanitary pads, and stationery.

“This is very well received by the home and the children. In a home marred by challenges with water supply and food, this act of kindness will go a long way in putting a smile on the faces of the young ones,”  Fatuma added.
