Covid-19: Kenya records 121 new infections as three succumb

121 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a sample size of 6,454 tested in the last 24 hours bringing total confirmed positive cases to 322,043.

The positivity rate  is now at 1.9% with cumulative tests so far  conducted are 3,254,043.

Out of the new cases, 76 are Kenyans while 45 are  foreigners with 66 males and 55 females.

The youngest is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 96 years.

117 patients have recovered from the disease, 90 are from  the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 27 are from  various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at  295,697 of whom 243,111 are from the Home-Based Care and  Isolation program, while 52,586 are from various health facilities  countrywide.

Unfortunately, 3 patients have succumbed to Covid-19, all of  them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of January 2022.

This now pushes the  cumulative fatalities to 5,607.

Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (42), 20- 29 (148), 30-39 years (403), 40-49 years (642), 50-59 years  (1,022), 60 years and above (3,285).

A total of 260 patients are currently admitted in various health  facilities countrywide, while 3,946 are under the Home-Based  Isolation and Care program.

7 patients are in the Intensive Care  Unit (ICU), and all of them are on ventilatory support.

Another 68 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 66 of them are in the  general wards while two patients are in the High Dependency Unit  (HDU).

A total of 13,399,285 vaccines have been  administered across the country. Of these, 6,850,456 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 6,146,074.

Another 219,373 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 183,382 are booster doses. 

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is  226,615 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 116,266.

The uptake of the second dose among  those who received their first dose was at 63.6%.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 22.6%.

The Government is working  towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
