The Chairman of Pan African Forum Dr David Matsanga has backed President Uhuru Kenyatta in his mission to unite the country ahead of General Elections set for August this year.

He said Kenyatta currently serving his last term supports the idea of inclusivity of all Kenyans because unity is the best platform for a stronger nation.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta is a working leader who is fully engaged in uniting the country and delivering to the great people of Kenya. Those who are against a united country must rethink their decision and join the caravan of progressive minds who mean well for this futuristic republic” he said.

Matsanga who is also the Conflict Resolution expert said that leadership in many African countries, with their ethnic diversities, is characterized by ethnic bias and favoritism.

According to the 60 year old, citizens are treated unequally in many respects, especially when it comes to national resource allocation and political representation hence need for oneness and equity reforms.

The President said it was the quest for national unity that prompted him to choose to bring together all Kenyans through his Handshake with his political archrival Raila Odinga.

“The initiative was engineered by two people who made deep personal sacrifices for a nation’s sake. This is enough proof that they are motivated by no ulterior motive whatsoever in their bid to take the country forward through BBI whose appeal verdict we are still waiting in court” Matsanga further noted.

The head of state has continually called on leaders to preach peace and unity and use their freedom of expression to fight against corruption, tribalism and injustice which, he said, are vices that threaten Kenya’s progress.

Last year,President Kenyatta committed to ensure a more united and prosperous East African Community (EAC) as he took over the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

The President assured that he will spare no effort towards the realization of the shared aspirations that gave rebirth to the community 20 years ago.
