Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has retaliated against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to endorse Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga for Presidency in the 2022 polls slated for August.
Murkomen was speaking in Deputy President William Ruto’s rally in Mumias East, Kakamega County, when he criticized President Uhuru for turning cold shoulders on the DP despite him playing a part that led to his victory in the 2013 and 2017 General Elections.
“The most important decision we’re going to make is a country that chooses their leaders. There was enough time that you should have fought Ruto in 2013,” Murkomen said.
“Get out of our way. Let us fight with the person who wants to be president. Uhuru should go on holiday and leave us the candidate to deal with him. You’re looking so bad and desperate.”
This comes after Uhuru promised to hit the ground in joint campaigns with the opposition chief to woo voters in a bid to popularise Raila’s bid for Presidency.
On Friday, he held a meeting with the youths from Central Kenya in State House to tackle the influence of the DP who has been transversing the country with his Hustler narratives that have left many, especially the youth, dancing to his tunes.
This was just the outset of a series of meetings set to be held by Uhuru in Nyanza, Coast, and Western in the coming weeks.
