Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged For The Fourth Month

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has for the fourth month in a row retained the fuel prices.

In a statement issued on Monday, 14th February, EPRA director general Daniel Kiptoo noted that the applicable pump prices for this cycle have been maintained at the same level as in the immediate previous cycle.

In the period under review, the pump prices of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene remain unchanged.

“The prices are inclusive of the 8 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” read part of the EPRA’s statement.

The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased by 0.86 per cent from $601.97 per cubic metre in December 2021 to $596.79 per cubic metre in January 2022; Diesel increased by 7.11 per cent from US$565.92 per cubic metre to $606.16 per cubic metre while Kerosene decreased by 7.04 per cent from $574.85 per cubic metre to $534.38 per cubic metre.

Following the announcement, motorists in Nairobi will continue paying Ksh129.72 per litre, diesel and kerosene will retail at Kshs110.60 and Ksh103.54 respectively.

In Mombasa, residents will continue to pay Ksh127.46 per litre of super petrol, Ksh108.36 for a litre of diesel and Ksh101.29 for a litre of kerosene.

Kisumu residents will pay Ksh130.12 for a litre of super petrol, Ksh111.30 for diesel and Ksh104.26 for kerosene. In Nakuru, a litre of super petrol will go for Ksh129.24, Ksh110.43 for diesel and Ksh103.39 for kerosene.

The pump prices announced will be in force from midnight, 15th February to 14th March 2022.
