President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are expected to hold secret talks with Gatundu MP Moses Kuria later today in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The President will this evening open the Gulf Cooperation Council-Kenya Business Forum in Dubai. The former Prime Minister, Kuria, and representatives from the Kenyan business community will be present.
Earlier today, Kuria met Raila’s son, Raila Junior in Dubai and the latter urged him to join his father’s Azimio la Umoja.
“Good to bump into my brother, Hon. Moses Kuria in Dubai and I am happy to witness his recovery. I have asked him to join the winning team Azimio, we take the country forward,” Junior wrote in a tweet.
Kuria has been in Dubai for more than two months where he has been receiving treatment for serious burns in his legs. He has undergone more than seven surgeries.
The lawmaker has been using his social media platforms to pass his political messages and popularise his Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party.
He has recovered and is expected in Kenya this week.
On Saturday, February 19, he will hold a thanksgiving rally at Thika Stadium, Kiambu County. He says he has invited all top leaders, including the President, his deputy William Ruto and the ODM chief.
The Head of State and Raila wants CCK to work with Azimio in the run-up to the August General Election.
The CCK leader has been blowing hot and cold about his support for Azimio and the DP’s Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Towards the end of last year, he was warming to the Raila-led coalition before making an about-turn in January 2022.
Whether the President and his ‘Handshake’ brother will net him to Azimio is a matter of wait and see.
