Deputy President William Ruto has chided ODM party leader Raila Odinga for being a state project shoved by selfish politicians who have iniquitous interests.

Speaking at Thimangiri in Meru county, the DP asserted that the Azimio camp was out to ravage his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta to give an impression that he is fighting his boss over an imaginary fence and portray him as an incompetent leader.

“He is a project who wants to be supported by people who have their own interests. He is a project and a puppet by people who want to continue governing the country without the blessing of Kenyans,” he said.

“There are those trying to create the impression that the competition is between me and this group against President Kenyatta. We voted for him in 2013, 2017, and even in the repeat poll. We know the President is retiring in August. The competition is between us and Raila,” Ruto added.

Further, the DP told off Raila for depending on President Uhuru’s influence and support to back up his bid. He says that the former premier should face his competitors face-to-face, urging the locals to vote for UDA MPs and MCAs in the polls.

“You should come and compete with us and leave the president alone,” he said.

DP Ruto, who was in the company of ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula, and other leaders, was setting the stage for a victory come 2022 General Elections slated for August 9.
