Kisii Governor James Ongwae is on the spot for allegedly securing a fake diploma for his former chief campaigner whom he later employed at the county government.

Evans Nyaoga is accused of forging a diploma from Kenya Institute of Management after campaigning for Ongwae in the gurbanatorial elections.

Kisii County Deputy Director Human resources in charge of payroll Linet Nyanchama Rambeka told High Court Anti-Corruption division Justice Esther Maina that Nyaoga did not present his certificate for employment but the same emanated from the office of the Governor.

The witness said the employment of Nyaoga was a political reward for having campaigned for Ongwae in 2013.

Pressed hard by lawyer Danstan Omari, the witness confirmed she has never seen Nyaoga’s job application letter meaning he never applied for the job.

She said Nyaoga was employed in 2014 and worked until 2017 when he was sacked by the county service board after they learnt that he had joined Jubilee party and had sought to run for position of MCA.

The witness was testifying in a case where EACC is seeking to recorver Sh3 million Ongwae earned during his employment. The anti-graft body accuses him of presenting fake academic certificates.

Maureen Busolo, another witness who is the head examinations at KIM told the court that she received a request from EACC to examine the academic certifications presented by Nyaoga from the college, and found them to be fake.

However during cross examination by lawyer Omari the witness failed to produce original documents that could be compared with the said fake certificates.

She said she only relied on information on the website which data she courld not produce in court to support her statement.

Nyaoga is contesting the move by EACC to recover the money arguing that he worked for the county for three years.

It emerged that Nyaoga never applied for the job nor did he present the alleged acadamic papers as claimed thus questioning the source of the documents. Hearing to proceed.
