Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says he is fully aware of what he signed in a pact with the Azimio la Umoja movement at the Kenyatta International Conference Center(KICC).
Speaking on Friday Kalonzo said the deal was signed after a clear understanding between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“There is a very clear understanding between Raila, Uhuru and I. We have a structure document and I know what I personally signed. The document we signed is Azimio-One Kenya Alliance to form a grand coalition,” he stated
“Nothing is agreed until it is agreed on the Azimio- One Kenya Grand Alliance,” Kalonzo said insisting that consultations are still ongoing among all the parties involved.
Kalonzo’s sentiments come barely a week after he revealed that none of the parties were aware of what they signed in the Azimio la Umoja mega coalition deal.
The former Vice President said his remarks were based on an observation he made during the Azimio delegates conference noting that Secretary Generals of the parties hurriedly signed the documents.
“Most Secretary Generals signed at the last minute and didn’t have the time to read through the documents. They all signed in faith hoping their party leaders understood the document,” he said
Kalonzo further refuted claims that he was forced to support Raila Odinga saying he has a democratic right to decline if indeed he did not want to support the Azimio la Umoja Presidential flagbearer.
“There were claims that I held the Azimio NDC hostage and when I finally showed up people resorted to saying I was forced to support Raila. I know how to say no. Claims that I was forced is pure propaganda,” he stated
“I arrived in State House at 9.30AM and our meeting delayed because Raila arrived later along with Charity Ngilu at 1.00PM. We had a brief meeting together with Uhuru and left for KICC,” he added
Kalonzo called upon the Kamba community to rally behind the Wiper party while disputing the notion that he is at logger heads with Ukambani Governors; Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
“I have nothing against the three Governors, they have their right to choose the person they want to support. The Kamba community has always voted for Raila and it is not going to be any different in the upcoming general election,” he said
