Omanyala bows out, Kibet bags silver at World Indoor Athletics Championship

Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala failed to reach the finals of the men’s 60m after finishing fourth in his semi final heat at the ongoing World Indoor Athletics championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

Omanyala had reached the semis after clocking 6.62 seconds in the qualifying stage.

The national record holder clocked 6.64 seconds to finish fourth in his heat that was won by USA’s Marvin Bracy who came home in 6.51 seconds.

Jerod Elcock of Trinidad and Tobago wound up second as Andrew Robertson of Great Britain was placed third.

The 60m final  is scheduled 11.20pm Kenyan Time.

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Tv, Channel 1, is relaying the Championship live from Belgrade.

 

Meanwhile 17 year old Noah Kibet Won Kenya its first medal at the ongoing championship after finishing second in the men’s 800m final. Kibet clocked 1:46.35 to win silver in a race that was won by Spain’s Mariano Garcia who timed 1:46.20.

Bryce Hoppel of USA completed the podium dash in 1:46.51.
