Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has stepped down for Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in the Kakamega County gubernatorial race.
The two aspirants from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Amani National Congress (ANC) reached a consensus after extensive talks with their supporters and the leadership Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
They made the announcement at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen office Wednesday in the presence of party leaders Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), MPs Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Mwambu Mabonga (Bumula) among others.
Mr Khalwale will contest for the Kakamega Senators position.
