Grief engulfed Chechelesi Muslim Cemetary on Tuesday after four relatives of Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Guyo were laid to rest.

The four, Guyo’s brother Hassan Ibrahim Sora, Hassan’s wife Fatuma Hassan and their two daughters perished after they were involved in a fatal road accident while their way to Isiolo from Nairobi to transfer their voting station from Nairobi’s Matopeni ward.

This is after MCA Guyo declared interest to vie for the Gubernatorial seat following his endorsement by incumbent Governor Mohamed Kuti who announced his retirement from active politics citing health reasons.

The car they were driving in, a Toyota Sienta developed mechanical issues and lost control and rammed into a fence, killing the four on the spot.

The accident happened just two days after Guyo who was vying for the MP’s seat in Embakasi Central accepted to take the baton from Governor Kuti and become the new Sakuye community kingpin following the exit of Mohamed Kuti who has served for four consecutive terms as Isiolo North MP twice, one term as a Senator and the last one as the County Governor.

Friends and relatives thronged the Chechelesi Muslim Cemetery to bid farewell to the four departed family members, and condole the bereaved family.

They also called upon Isiolo residents to stand by the bereaved family at this trying time to help them overcome the grief in good time as Hon. Guyo is expected to kick start his campaigns for the County governor’s seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Abdi Guyo was born in Isiolo but went on to serve in Nairobi as a Councillor for one term and as a Ward Rep (MCA) Matopeni ward for two terms, rising to the position of leader of majority during his second term.
